SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

History is a domain that studies the complex development and evolution of mankind taking into account the events that took place across the centuries and influenced society.

It develops the capacity of thinking and of perceiving important events through which mankind has passed; it analyses the past with the specific purpose of understanding the present and of guiding our future behavior. Knowing the history of the EU, represents a privileged means so that the common historical and cultural heritage of the European people becomes a formative element of the European citizen capable of managing social, cultural and identity problems with which society is confronted daily.

Also, knowing history helps students to better understand the Brexit from the U.K., the refugee crisis from Europe, the causes and consequences on humankind, the impact on today’s society. Through teaching history the teachers can promote and develop within the student body the EU values mentioned in the EU Treaty: non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity, respecting liberty, democracy, equality, human rights, including for people who belong to minority groups. Only by knowing history, the students will be able to develop today’s society for tomorrow’s generations.
